The mysterious white SUV was back in front of our house today, with the guy taking pictures out the window and writing stuff down again... For at least the tenth time in 6 months. This time I ran outside and took some pictures of him -- just in case. Asked who he was and why was he always taking pictures of our house...
He's a real estate appraiser. Turns out that our house is one of only a handful of houses in the area with a large square footage, so it is often singled-out as a "comp" and mortgage companies want current pictures instead of old pictures. *sigh*
What bothers me is that we can't figure out just when our paranoia grew to the point of freaking out over someone taking pictures of our house. I mean, we get a LOT of looks (and smiles) because the house is crazy blue with orange accents, and we're fine with that. But this seemed "threatening" for some reason.
The only thing I can figure is that all the crazy experiences with the crime in NOLA impacted us more than we realized. Perhaps that and the constant "don't let the terrorists win" propaganda blasted all over the news... Maybe I've been reading too much Slashdot. ![]()
What ever it is, it's sad and kind-of depressing that we've become so suspicious of everyone around us.
Downloaded the Flash Player 9 r28 Debug version today and found that i no longer get any trace() output to my log file. ![]()
Had to revert to Player 8 Debug as the only 9 version on the Adobe site is r28. (Previous 9 Debug version was working, but I over-wrote my older 9 debug install with the new one -- same filenames, ya know)
I don't see any information in TechNotes or anything on the site, but if someone has any info, please post.
I tested this with both the ActiveX version and the Netscape version. Still no Intel Mac 9r28 Debug, so no test there.
[UPDATE] - Matt informed us that it was probably a change in flashlog.txt file location due to Vista changes, it is was. The trace output DOES exist. Now we just need to hear if the location will still be configurable via mm.cfg or if there's a new way to change the file's location. See comments for a little more info.
[UPDATE 2] - It has been confirmed that the log files do still work on OSX as well, but are in a new location (see comments for more). The only thing still "up in the air" is official word if mm.cfg has been discontinued, or if there are new ways to set preferences.
I've been trying for three days to get connected to our SVN repository via SVN+SSH from both my Windows box and my Mac. While it's no problem for my co-workers who are savvy with Terminal or command line linux tools, it was a complete pain for me since I'm used to the Visual SourceSafe "Right-click->Check Out" method (read: simple GUI).
After going through several free/OSS clients on Windows, and a few on my Mac, I finally saw a link to one I hadn't heard of before -- SmartSVN. It said that it would do SVN+SSH so I gave it a whirl and lo-and-behold it worked first time through!
While it will still take me a day or so to come to grips with the SVN workflow, at least just connecting isn't an issue anymore.
So, for future reference for anyone searching for an EASY way to use SVN+SSH on a Windows box (though the same client is available for OSX and Linux) I would recommend skipping all the Putty/PuttyGen/TortoiseSVN/pull-your-hair-out methods and try this way. (I really can't believe the convoluted way you need to set things up to use SVN+SSH... seriously.) ![]()
Does anyone have any recent info on Adobe offering a cross-grade option to move my Windows licensed Studio 8 to OSX?
I remember it being discussed at one time (maybe during the great EULA debates of '03), and that MM had the option, but can't seem to find any current info other than "not at this time" on Adobe's site.
Was there ever an option? Did things change? Or will I have to buy a whole new set of studios (MM and Adobe)?
